Critical shortages of essential generic injectable drugs are an ongoing crisis in U.S. healthcare and have reached an all-time high. Over 300 essential medications are currently reported to be in shortage, according to industry and FDA reports. Civica is a market-based nonprofit created in 2018 by health systems and philanthropies to prevent and mitigate drug shortages. It supplies medicines to over 1,400 hospitals across 49 states and partners with government agencies and organizations to ensure the availability of essential medicines. The company is expanding its manufacturing capabilities with a new state-of-the-art facility in Virginia, producing sterile injectables and biosimilar insulins to address shortages and reduce costs. Job Description
The Quality Shop Floor Associate will support quality assurance activities at Civica’s Petersburg, VA site, focusing on manufacturing documentation review, quality control, and compliance with FDA regulations. Responsibilities
Perform quality reviews of materials and finished goods. Ensure adherence to SOPs and batch records during manufacturing. Identify and document nonconformances, deviations, or discrepancies. Support manufacturing and processing activities. Maintain quality systems to ensure reliable supply of quality medications. Support visual inspection of products. Promote a culture of quality and safety. Ensure compliance with cGMPs and proper documentation practices (ALCOA+). Stay updated on FDA and Civica manufacturing requirements. Collaborate proactively to resolve issues. Qualifications
Basic:
High school diploma, organizational skills, communication skills, ability to work independently and in a team, and a commitment to quality and safety. Preferred:
Experience in pharmaceuticals and quality assurance. Physical Demands & Environment
Requires speaking, hearing, manual dexterity, standing, walking, sitting, reaching, and occasionally lifting up to 25 pounds. Work environment is low to moderate noise. Use of equipment like pallet jacks may be required. Additional Information
