Overview
WSP is one of the globe's leading engineering firms, helping New England clients and communities improve their infrastructure while developing professional careers in construction management and inspection. The opportunity includes oversight of road, bridge, or related construction projects with values ranging from $1–$50 million. This position can be based in Portland, Augusta or Eliot, ME, Merrimack, NH, or Waterbury, VT.
WSP is seeking a Construction Inspector to oversee construction elements including excavation, backfilling, compaction, cast-in-place concrete, precast elements, bridge seats, bearings and joints, bridge rail, drainage, paving, and other related items. The inspector reports to the Resident Engineer or their designee.
Your Impact
Interface with contractor supervisors to determine and monitor daily work.
Complete daily reports, measure and calculate unit price quantities.
Coordinate independent material sampling and testing, or perform such testing periodically.
Monitor maintenance of traffic.
Take and compile photographs to track daily progress.
Help update red-line drawings using Bluebeam.
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies.
Who You Are Required
High School Diploma
5 years applicable experience
Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
Ability to read plans and specifications, or the ability to learn
Valid driver's license
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety, drug/alcohol, and harassment policies
Preferred
Associate of Science degree in Engineering or Construction Management, or related field
Experience with MS Word Suite
Hands-on experience with construction management software (Site or Field Manager, APPIA, Procore, IPD or similar); knowledge of Bluebeam
ACI, NETTCP certification or ability to attain within 3 months of hire
Any combination of college education, professional licenses, certifications and experience will be considered
