Position Purpose:
Responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of wastewater treatment plant. Operational start‑up and shutdown of treatment facility, conduct analysis of water quality to determine chemical dosages and operational adjustments, record keeping and report preparation, maintenance of equipment, and grounds and housekeeping of facility. Primary Duties/Responsibilities
Shift operation of the wastewater treatment plant which ensures compliance with state and federal regulations through routine monitoring and adjustment of plant processes manually and/or through computerized control systems. Conduct routine testing of water and record test results; maintain the plant log book with accurate and timely entries of activities. Evaluate all data and information pertaining to the proper operation of the facility and notify Project Manager of any abnormal conditions. Maintain the facility treatment units to include settlement basin, filters, sampling equipment, and pumps; identify and report the need for repairs to water treatment plant equipment such as pumps, valves, motors, blowers, and chemical feed equipment. Monitor all charts, gauges and other operating equipment and maintain calibration of plant instrumentation and online analyzers according to the frequency specified by permitting agencies and/or the manufacturer. Calculate chemical feed rates, calibrate chemical equipment and adjust chemical feed rates as indicated by lab tests or by direction of Water Plant Manager to comply with water quality requirements. Adjust or alter chemical treatment of plant processes as required. Handle chemical ordering, receiving and handling. Maintain property in good order to include housekeeping and grounds upkeep. Provide customer service skills. Follow proper health and safety standards. Utilize computers and software as assigned. Perform other related duties as assigned. Work Environment
Exposure to outside weather conditions. Moderate noise level; possible higher noise within OSHA standards. Qualifications
Must have an NC Wastewater License. High School Diploma/GED required. Approximately 1½ years of industry experience. Maintenance experience is a plus. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Understand verbal and written instructions in English. Good written and oral communication skills. Computer skills in Microsoft Office and Google applications. Required Certifications & Licenses
Wastewater Operator Certification. Physical Requirements
Regularly required to talk or hear. Frequently required to stand, walk, climb stairs or ladders, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and taste or smell. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required: distinguish color, close vision and distance vision. Benefits
