Hunt Valve, powered by Fairbanks Morse Defense, has manufactured valves for the defense and industrial industries for decades and is a trusted provider of specialized, severe-duty valves. Due to the stringent technical and quality requirements in which Hunt Valve’s products are used, our facility requires a robust Quality Assurance Department. The Quality Assurance Department has an opportunity for a Quality Specialist. As the company continues to grow, this role has the potential to lead into a managerial position.
Responsibilities
Internal auditing of company procedures and processes
Processing of Quality Assurance documentation, which includes review of certifications, creating certification packages, performing contract review, review/write/edit company procedures
Review of certifications – consists of reviewing/verifying/approving/stamping incoming material certifications from vendors during the receipt inspection process.
Review certifications to vendor purchase order, internal procedure, and military/commercial standards
Contact vendor(s) to correct certifications, as applicable
Creation of certification packages – consists of reviewing internal documents and the customer contract to determine what documentation needs to be include with shipment of a valve(s)
Certificate of Conformance only
Create document index listing and compile approved vendor certifications for component parts that are used in the making of valve
Contract Review – consists of reviewing internal documents (drawings/bill of material/routings, part comments, etc) to customer contract to identify and ensure that manufacturing is meeting the requirements
Create Contract Review Notice (CRN) when internal documents don’t coincide with customer contract requirements
Providing support to other functional areas of company, such as Manufacturing, Purchasing, Inspection, and Engineering Departments
Inspection Department
Receiving Inspection – will work with inspector during review of certifications
Final Valve Inspection – will work with inspector during the creation of certification packages
Receive acceptance tags/serial logs
Answer any questions that may arise during the process
Manufacturing Department
Work with supervisors and answer questions relating to contracts/orders being processed in assembly department
Engineering Department
Work with Engineers when questions arise during contract review and/or during creation of certification packages
Bill of material doesn’t match customer contract
Vendor Information Requests (VIRs) need submitted to customer
Supplement to original contract needs reviewed
Purchasing Department
Work with Purchasing during the certification review process
Vendor certifications don’t match purchase order – purchasing to help in getting resolution
Send material back to vendor
Qualification & Skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Computer knowledge and skills
Must be detail oriented, organized, and flexible
Work in a fast-paced environment
Ability to follow procedures, work instructions & standard work
Must be able to organize and prioritize work
Ability to evaluate a situation and provide a prompt assessment
Willingness to defend positions in the face of schedule pressures or other reasonable challenges

Experience Requirements
Working knowledge of quality system requirements, such as ISO 9001 or MIL-I-54208
Demonstrated Quality Assurance auditing experience; lead auditor qualification is preferred
5 years of experience in Quality Assurance and/or Control preferred
Experience with Microsoft Office suite of software (e.g., Word, Excel, etc.)
Familiarity with lean, six sigma, and/or continuous improvement principles is preferred
Experience in Export/Import/ITAR/ECCN/EAR preferred
Knowledge of government contracts and NOFORN
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Quality and/or Manufacturing related field from an accredited institution preferred
HS Diploma required
