The Academy’s first school opened in Delano in 2009, serving students from across the Central Valley in grades 6‑12. In 2016, we moved to our new, state‑of‑the‑art college prep campus in Delano, and in the Fall of 2017, added an elementary school in Delano and opened a second charter school in Lost Hills. In Delano, we serve over 1,800 students in grades TK‑12, while in Lost Hills, we serve over 400 students in grades TK‑12.

Job Description WCPA Delano, dedicated to fostering a safe and inclusive learning environment, is seeking a vigilant and proactive ELOP Campus Security (part‑time). The primary focus of this role is to monitor and mitigate external threats, intrusions, and unauthorized individuals to ensure the safety of students, staff, and school property, as well as provide de‑escalation support during high‑traffic times, such as during arrival and dismissal. This position requires strong observational skills, situational awareness, and the ability to respond calmly and effectively to potential security or safety concerns.
Essential Job Functions
Arrival and dismissal support at parking lots, entrances, managing and de‑escalating situations with disruptive parents or visitors.
Perimeter monitoring via patrols of campus, parking lots, vendor gates, boundaries, identifying security risks.
Threat detection of unauthorized individuals and suspicious activity using observation, security cameras, etc.
Access control ensuring entry points are staffed, secure, validating visitors and enforcing school access policies.
Incident response to security incidents following protocols to de‑escalate and coordinate with administrators or law enforcement.
Surveillance system management – operate and monitor cameras and alarms, report malfunctions.
Collaboration with administrators, staff, and local law enforcement to maintain security.
Emergency preparedness – assist in implementing and practicing emergency procedures, lockdowns, evacuations.
Reporting – document incidents, observations, and activities in detailed reports.
Vendor/visitor check‑in procedures ensuring campus safety protocols compliance.
Training – attend training sessions and meetings on school safety, crisis response, campus supervision.
Other duties as assigned.
Schedule Monday‑Thursday: 2:30 PM‑6:30 PM
Friday: 11:30 AM‑6:30 PM
Qualifications
Education
– high‑school diploma or equivalent (required). Additional training or certification in security practices (guard card, CPR/First Aid) is highly desirable.
Experience
– Prior experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred. Experience in a school or educational setting is a plus.
Skills & Knowledge
– Strong observational and situational awareness to detect threats; ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; basic knowledge of security systems (walkies/radios, CCTV, alarm systems); ability to work effectively with students, families, and staff of diverse backgrounds; background check (including fingerprints) required.
Working Conditions
– Physical ability to walk, stand, and patrol for extended periods; lift up to 25 pounds; respond quickly to incidents.
Pay Pay: $18.00 per hour
Compensation
Highly competitive compensation commensurate with experience.
Optional 403(b) with company match (5%).
