Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry‑leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry. This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical‑based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical‑based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Key Responsibilities

Develops the business case, value proposition, and initial marketing strategy for emerging programs

Conducts new opportunity assessments to prioritize business development efforts

Conducts financial analysis to inform new opportunity assessments and the development of the business strategy

Identifies and connects with internal resources, subject matter experts, customers, development partners, and defines go to market approach required to implement business strategy

Develops and executes action plan with clear objectives and key results required to execute on business plan

Evaluate and recommend entry and exit strategies for programs

Competencies Requirement

Understand market dynamics and financial statements, able to pursue opportunities based on the strength of potential P&L and balance sheet implications

Willing to pursue business development efforts with sustained high levels of energy, drive, and enthusiasm

Strategic thinking with agility, able to deal with ambiguities

Entrepreneurial mindset, able to use a combination of business / technology understanding and intuition to assess an opportunity

Understands customers’ current and future needs and able to articulate justification of investment in new business opportunities

Able to perform financial modeling, comparative analysis

Exceptional PowerPoint skills

Required Education

5-7 years work experience in market or product line management, manufacturing and engineering

1-3 years’ experience in customer‑facing roles (e.g. sales, business development)

Bachelor’s Degree – Engineering, Technical

MBA or equivalent extensive direct experience

Desired Experiences

Work experience in Manufacturing, Engineering, or Development

Work experience in a start‑up environment

The range for this position is $126,366.00 - $173,753.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job‑related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
