The Business Development Executive (BDE) serves as a growth leader in their assigned market, working closely with the Managing Partner (MP) to develop and execute the overall market growth strategy. The BDE provides direct business development and pursuit leadership for strategic prospects and clients, focusing on organizations ranging from $200 million privately‑owned businesses to multi‑billion‑dollar public companies.
What You Will Do
Develop and nurture relationships with key executive buyers (CEO, CFO, CAO, Controller, Tax Director, Internal Audit, etc.) at identified target prospects and selected clients. Facilitate conversations to understand critical business issues and strategic goals, identify client service opportunities, and coordinate follow‑up meetings with subject matter teams.
Provide leadership on strategic pursuits to position the firm to win, including pre‑pursuit research, targeting, and the development of strategic pursuit plans.
Engage and coordinate with necessary subject matter professionals; lead internal preparation and strategy meetings for opportunity scoping; participate in and facilitate scoping and relationship development meetings with targets.
Coordinate with market, industry, and service line leadership on pursuit and resourcing strategies.
Lead and coordinate proposal responses, developing proposal strategies, win themes, and key messages/differentiators as part of the pursuit approach.
Participate in oral presentations, follow‑up meetings, and provide negotiation/pricing strategy leadership.
Coordinate with firm‑wide teams across services and industries to drive collaboration and cross‑serve opportunities with clients.
Serve as a face of the firm in the market, developing referral relationships and qualifying/leading opportunistic pursuits as they arise.
Lead/facilitate regular market growth meetings with key market, industry, and service line leaders in coordination with the MP, coordinating market growth efforts and strategic pursuits.
Participate in trade organization and relevant business networks to build community relationships in alignment with market growth strategy.
Provide ongoing business development coaching to Partners, Managing Directors, Directors, and Senior Managers.
Collaborate extensively with other BDEs to drive synergies, share best practices, and enhance the overall culture and capabilities of the Business Development team.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a business‑related field.
8+ years of experience in professional services sales and/or relationship management.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of tools.
Subject‑matter knowledge and understanding of industries including but not limited to Commercial Products, Technology & Services, Private Equity, and Construction & Real Estate.
Preferred Qualifications
10+ years of experience in the public accounting and consulting industry.
Experience operating in a business development and relationship development capacity at a Top 10 public accounting or consulting firm.
Proven experience leading and facilitating teams through sales methodologies and processes, with a track record of meeting and exceeding annual business development goals.
Pay Transparency Pursuant to the pay transparency laws of New York State and New Jersey, the salary range displayed is for the respective markets. Total compensation and benefits include salary, group health plan benefits, 401(k), profit‑sharing, flexible time off, and parental leave.
NY Minimum Salary: $139,600 – NY Maximum Salary: $290,000.
NJ Minimum Salary: $139,600 – NJ Maximum Salary: $290,000.
