The Area Supervisor is a member of Store Leadership responsible for a specific, assigned area of the store and for the general operations and supervision when functioning as the Manager on Duty. They are responsible for opening and closing the store, supervising associates, maintaining a friendly, easy-to-shop environment, ensuring proper merchandise presentation, and maintaining a clean work area. They also execute and supervise company operational processes as needed. Essential Functions
Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments
Understands safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors in all duties. Maintains a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment. Reports unsafe conditions or practices to Store Leadership. Responsible for security of building including entrance/exit control, EAS device checks, Cash Office security, armored carrier pickups, and register area. Removes clutter and ensures safe, clear egress to emergency exits. Responsible for customer safety including accident prevention, reporting, and emergency procedures. Tests all fire alarm systems as scheduled and responds to after-hours alarms when requested. Customer Service
Treats all customers, associates, and other leaders with respect. Demonstrates courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism at all times; recognizes associates using company recognition programs. Personal and Store Brand
Represents and supports the company brand at all times. Maintains a professional appearance in accordance with the company dress code and ensures all associates adhere to it. Keeps all areas of the store clean, well-maintained, and merchandised to standard. Responsible for daily trash removal. General Merchandising
Ensures recovery, sizing and markdowns are completed to company standards through instruction, task assignment, and follow-up. Responsible for receiving merchandise as needed. Processes all merchandise with a sense of urgency. Receives all non-merchandise inbound deliveries (e.g., signs, supplies, special deliveries). Maintains cleanliness and organization of stockrooms. Assists in delivering and placing merchandise on the sales floor when processed. Secures and processes back-stock according to company policy. Manages department merchandising including back stock and adherence to monthly presentation guidelines. Responsible for floor moves and signing, including promotional signing as needed. Responsible for re-wraps as needed. Loss Prevention
Follows Loss Prevention Awareness Program and maintains a strong customer service presence to support loss prevention. Represents Ross Leadership with integrity; safeguards confidential information, cash, and merchandise. Maintains Public View Monitor (PVM) system. Conducts specified inspections and follows company best practices to maximize productivity. Front End Supervision & Operations
Executes company best practices to maximize productivity and ensures front-end standards are met. Maintains pace and presence at the front end to manage line flow and reduce customer wait times. Trains and coaches associates on cash registers, shortage control, and front-end procedures. Manages break schedules for backups and lunches; ensures equipment and supplies are adequate. Ensures go-backs are scanned, tagged, and ticketed; trains staff on Scan and Bag best practices. Fitting Rooms
Maintains cleanliness of fitting rooms and audits garment tags per policy. Ensures go-back compliance; merchandise returned to the sales floor is properly ticketed and tagged. Administrative Duties as Assigned by Store Manager
Oversight of cash pulls and bank deposits per policy. Maintains front-end control, including refund approvals, associate purchase approvals, tills security, and related procedures. Payroll administration including daily punch edits and scheduling, as needed. Other duties as assigned by Store Manager. Competencies

Ability to use all store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PCs. Ability to stand, walk, and move around the store for up to 100% of working time. Ability to regularly bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop. Ability to occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 lbs.
