We are currently seeking a
Project Surveyor 2
in our
Bozeman or Billings, MT office . As a
Project Surveyor 2 , you will provide production surveying duties, applying knowledge of land surveying in related fields. You will receive surveying assistance under the leadership of a Senior Survey Coordinator or Senior Land Surveyor, and you will perform calculations and apply surveying judgment based on documented practices and examples reviewed by a Senior Survey Coordinator or Senior Land Surveyor. Responsibilities
Perform complex survey duties associated with construction stakeout, boundary, topographic, and as-built surveys. Research historic maps, land records, previous surveys, and land title reports. Complete boundary reductions and mapping/topographic field reductions in CAD/survey software. Download, maintain, and verify accuracy of project survey data and manage the survey database. Review survey production and final products, processed data collection, and field notes for quality control. Proficiency with survey computations, staking/control exhibits, and survey crew instructions for construction staking and field survey projects. Operate and assist with GPS equipment, total stations, levels, data collectors and other survey equipment. Lead CAD Techs in preparing plans and plats describing the surveys performed. Maintain professional and productive working relationships with clients and coworkers. Mentor and assist in training junior staff members. Operate a company vehicle and observe safety and security procedures. Key skills and abilities
Ability to travel up to 20% with occasional overnight stays. Advanced knowledge of land surveying operations, computations, principles and practices. Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering plans and construction documents. Knowledge of dealing with public and governmental agencies, managing field crews, and scheduling equipment and supplies. Proficiency with on-site office operation, workflows, and problem-solving techniques. Advanced understanding of survey operations and identification of potential problems. Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, survey software, GPS, and MS Office. Problem solving and strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to effectively communicate with clients, officials, contractors, coworkers and professionally represent IMEG. Valid driver's license with the ability to be insured by IMEG’s carrier. Education and experience
Bachelor's of Science (BS) or Associate's Degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent required. LS License required. 6 years of experience minimum required, 7 preferred, in the surveying/construction industry.
