Role Overview
The primary objective of this role is to ensure Cyclyx has a consistent supply of high-value goods and services. The Buyer MRO is responsible for sourcing, procuring, and managing non-production related materials and services to ensure efficient, cost-effective, and uninterrupted plant operations. The role involves strategic sourcing, supplier management, ERP-enabled purchasing, and cost optimization, often leveraging analytics and technology platforms to enhance procurement efficiency. The Buyer MRO builds supplier relationships, resolves non-conformances, prioritizes work, and seeks continuous improvement within procurement. This role requires a hands-on, responsive team player who is self-motivated and creative with strong interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities
Sourcing, negotiating, and maintaining relationships with MRO suppliers to ensure quality, compliance, and cost efficiency Maintaining optimal MRO stock levels, monitoring consumption, issuing purchase orders, and tracking delivery schedules to prevent production downtime Performing price and cost analysis, evaluating procurement options, and recommending cost-saving measures Ensuring procurement activities align with safety, legal, environmental, and internal standards; maintaining records of purchases, contracts, and approvals Expediting MRO items to ensure on-time delivery Analyzing historical usage to forecast consumables and spare parts needs and align with maintenance schedules to prevent unplanned purchases Resolving disputes with vendors promptly and effectively Collaborating with requisitioners to ensure proper construction of purchase requisitions Creating or converting requisitions to purchase orders with accurate specifications, pricing, timing, and quantities Utilizing approved vendor lists to ensure compliance with policy and quality standards Maintaining purchasing files and industry documentation Conducting regular MRO inventory reviews and investigating discrepancies Collaborating with plant operations, EHS, and other corporate functions Other duties as assigned by the Director, Procurement
Qualifications
Minimum 3 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain operations, preferably in plastics or recycling Strong attention to detail and ability to process purchase orders accurately Experience managing supplier communications and resolving order-related issues Familiarity with procurement systems, ERP software, and Microsoft Office Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on cost management Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple transactions
Education/Training
Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field, or equivalent education and work experience
Position Mechanics
Reports to : Director, Procurement Type : Exempt; Full-time Work Hours : Flexible, but must be available 8:00-5:00, Monday to Friday with occasional evenings and weekends Location : Houston, TX Work environment : Primarily office, with potential to work in an industrial environment where PPE is required Travel : Minimal (less than 10%) as needed Physical demand is typical of an office environment; occasional lifting and manual work Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship for employment visa status
