Purpose The Shipping & Receiving Assistant plays a critical role in supporting the logistics and supply chain operations at Comtech. The individual will be responsible for executing inbound and outbound shipping activities, verifying materials against documentation, maintaining accurate inventory records, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and export regulations.
Responsibilities
Receive, inspect, and verify incoming shipments against purchase orders, packing slips, and quality standards.
Accurately process outgoing shipments, including proper packaging, labeling, documentation, and carrier coordination.
Maintain and update inventory records in ERP/MRP systems to ensure traceability and stock accuracy.
Ensure compliance with ITAR, EAR, and company‑specific export/import regulations.
Operate material handling equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, etc.) safely to move, store, and organize materials.
Support kitting activities for production, ensuring parts are available and properly staged.
Identify and escalate discrepancies in shipments or materials to procurement, quality, or supply chain teams.
Maintain warehouse organization and cleanliness in accordance with 5S and aerospace safety standards.
Collaborate with supply chain, production, and engineering teams to meet delivery schedules.
Prepare and maintain accurate shipping/receiving documentation and reports for internal and audit purposes.
Requirements
Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and shipping software.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and operate material handling equipment safely.
Familiarity with ITAR/EAR compliance and aerospace/defense shipping practices.
Skills
Experience with ERP systems (Costpoint, SAP, Oracle, or equivalent).
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Knowledge of packaging standards for aerospace and electronics.
Basic understanding of ISO/AS9100 quality requirements.
Experience with freight coordination (domestic and international).
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
Problem‑solving and critical thinking skills.
Ability to work in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
Organizational skills with a focus on continuous improvement (Lean/5S).
Education
High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
Experience
2+ years of experience in shipping, receiving, or warehouse operations.
