Responsibilities At the Arizona Humane Society, our Bilingual Adoption Specialists are experience makers. From creating online pet profiles to drum up interest in the pet, greeting potential adopters, escorting them through kennels, and assisting in the matchmaking adoption process, they aim to provide a consistent, positive, and excellent experience every time. You will assess the needs of potential adopters and match them with pets best suited for their lifestyle and preferences, while educating them on the pet’s known history, including medical and behavioral insights acquired during their time in the shelter. Ensuring the adopter is educated about the pet’s needs, including recommending supplies from our retail store to start them out on the right foot, is also essential.
Qualifications
High school diploma / GED
Bilingual English/Spanish
Six months to one year of prior work experience
Experience in customer service or animal welfare environment preferred
Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
Above-average clerical skills with the ability to complete paperwork accurately
Ability to learn and demonstrate how to handle animals safely and humanely in all conditions
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Flexible work schedule, including weekends and evenings
Work Environment / Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. There will be exposure to dust, heat, cold, and temperature changes; occasional wet floors, and animal noises, odors, and dander.
