Export Control and Trade Compliance Specialist . Location:

Chief Financial Officer Responsibilities
Lead export control and trade compliance activities, ensuring adherence to U.S. export laws, EAR, ITAR, and related regulations. Oversee import, tariff, and customs processes — including classification, documentation, and duty management. Support compliance aspects of international contracts. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including R&D, engineering, and operations, to ensure alignment with export and import compliance requirements. Review transactions, technology transfers, and partner collaborations for export control risks. Develop, implement, and maintain internal compliance policies, procedures, and training programs. Perform export control determination, classification, and associated supporting justifications and rationales for applicable technologies and keep the information up to date in accordance with changes in regulations and company activities. Serve as the internal liaison for export-related inquiries and audits. Confidently engage and push back with technical teams, scientists, and partners to uphold compliance requirements when challenged. Provide practical, business-oriented advice to management and project teams. Coordinate with outside counsel, government agencies, and logistics providers as needed. What you’ll need
Bachelor’s degree in legal studies, international trade, business, or a related field. 3–5 years of experience in export control, trade compliance, or customs/tariff regulation. Background in legal and/or regulatory affairs or corporate compliance preferred (law degree not required). Experience working with U.S. export and import regulations (EAR, ITAR, OFAC, CBP, HTS, ECCN, etc.). Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to work effectively with scientists, engineers, and executives. Confident and assertive — comfortable pushing back when compliance standards are questioned. Experience in the nuclear, energy, or engineering sectors is a plus. We offer
