Girls Head Junior Varsity Water Polo Coach
Marin Academy is seeking candidates for their Girl’s Junior Varsity Water Polo Head
Coach position. In addition to having strong water polo knowledge and coaching
experience, candidates must be professional and positive and have flexible afternoon
and evening schedules. A strong candidate for this position would have head coaching
experience at the high school and/or collegiate levels. The season runs from Monday,
August 11, through late end-October.
Qualifications:
● Previous successful coaching experience at the high school level, preferably
within the previous four years.
● Collegiate-level playing experience in this sport is highly desirable, with high
school-level playing experience expected as a minimum requirement.
● Demonstrate knowledge of and ability to implement effective coaching theory,
strategies, and techniques appropriate for high school athletes.
● Ability to supervise, organize, and motivate a coaching staff at all levels.
● Ability to motivate student-athletes to participate and sustain their interests in
the program.
● Demonstrate proper sportsmanship and respect for players, officials, opponents,
fans, and other coaches.
● Maintain good public relations and cooperative relationships with media,
parents, officials, students, staff, and school administration.
● Serve as a positive role model for students, coaching staff, and the Marin
● Work effectively with student-athletes of varying abilities and cultural
backgrounds to instill commitment, discipline, and teamwork.
● Demonstrate knowledge of and adhere to and keep abreast of NFHS, CIF, NCS,
and League rules.
● Assume responsibility for inventory, selection, and care of equipment.
● Assume responsibility for proper care of the school facilities.
● Responsible for the supervision of all students affiliated with the team.
● Report injuries to Athletic Trainer, Athletic Director, and Assoc. Athletic Director
in a timely manner.
● Adhere to Junior Varsity Head Coach job functions as listed in the Coaches
Handbook as well as general policies of the school.
● Demonstrated Skill in using state-of-the-art technology in coaching and assisting
student-athletes to improve their skills, knowledge, and ability to train.
● Availability to coach during school vacation periods.
● CPR, Concussion, First-Aid, Sudden Cardiac Arrest, and Heat Illness Prevention
Certified (or be willing to get certified upon hire).
Other Job Duties:
● Attend mandatory pre & post-season coaches meetings with the Athletic
Department.
● Attend the end-of-year Athletic Awards Celebration.
● Requisition supplies, materials, and equipment as needed and as approved by
the Athletic Director.
● Provide game results to the Athletic Dept Staff; keep season and game-by-game
statistics and records; provide statistical reports to the Athletic Director as
needed and/or requested.
● Provide statistical information to our League, NCS, or CIF upon request.
● Adhere to CIF Ethical Guidelines for Coaches and the school’s code of conduct.
● Assist the Athletic Director & Assoc. Athletic Director in selecting assistant
coaches.
● Apply discipline in a positive, firm, and consistent manner according to school
policy and the athletic department's mission.
● Other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.
Coaching Term:
Hire date Through 6/30/2026
Stipend: $2,500-$4,000
Requirements include a valid California driver’s license, TB test, and LiveScan
background check. Additionally, ASEP or NFHS CA Coaching Certification is mandated
by the CIF for all high school coaches. All Marin Academy coaches must become
certified by the Positive Coaching Alliance.
