Senior Payroll Coordinator

- New York, NY Organization: A well established mid-sized law firm that has a strong focus on insurance law matters. Role: The Senior Payroll Coordinator is responsible for managing and executing the end-to-end payroll process for all law firm employees, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness. This role involves handling complex payroll calculations, including bonuses, commissions, overtime, and deductions, while ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local tax regulations. Responsibilities: Payroll Processing : Oversee the preparation, processing, and distribution of bi-weekly, semi-monthly, or monthly payroll for [number] employees, including attorneys, paralegals, and support staff, using payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paychex, or UKG). Compliance : Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws, wage and hour regulations, and other legal requirements, including garnishments, levies, and benefits deductions. Data Management : Maintain accurate employee payroll records, including timekeeping, leave balances, bonuses, expense reimbursements, and partner draws. Reporting : Generate and analyze payroll reports for management, including cost allocation, budget tracking, and financial forecasting. Issue Resolution : Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies, responding to employee inquiries promptly and professionally. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, human resources, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered. 8+ years of payroll experience, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead role, preferably within a law firm or professional services environment. Proficiency with payroll software (e.g., Paycom, ADP Workforce Now, Paychex Flex, or UKG Pro) and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel. Experience with timekeeping systems and ERP software (e.g., Elite, Aderant) is a plus.
