Mozzarella Clerk (Seasonal) (Biotech)
The thrill of the holidays is quickly approaching our Uncle Giuseppe's Stores! We are actively seeking a SEASONAL Part-Time Mozzarella Clerk for our Smithtown store. This seasonal position will run from early October to the first week of December 2025 and offers a salary of $21.05/hour. Since this is a Seasonal position, there are no company benefits associated with this temporary job. Overview
Our Mozzarella Clerks are responsible for making fresh Mozzarella according to Uncle Giuseppes authentic Italian recipe. Mozzarella Clerks utilize fresh mozzarella curd to heat, stretch by hand, and make house-made mozzarella. Engages all senses: tastes, smells, feels, listens and observes all characteristics of each batch to maintain and elevate quality. Responsibilities
Record daily the weight of ingredients used, batch sizes, and amounts transferred to other outlets Make variations in time cycles and ingredients used as necessary for succeeding batches Cares for and handles products with careful attention to quality control and waste management Weigh, package and label mozzarella lab offerings Stock display refrigerators neatly, accurately and in a timely manner Provide guest service and information on mozzarella-making process to guests Clean work station thoroughly following food safety best practices Ensure collateral supplies are in stock and being utilized properly in the lab Other duties as required or assigned Requirements
HS Diploma or equivalent Previous cheese making and/or food production experience preferred Good communication skills Excellent attention to detail Must be able to speak, read and understand the English language Ability to work within a kitchen production environment and use commercial kitchen equipment Working Conditions
Most of the time is spent moving about continuously on hard surfaces. There may be a need to frequently position oneself to examine and/or scan merchandise, including bending, climbing, crawling, handling, pulling, reaching, and stooping. May require lifting objects up to 30 pounds. May require lifting and moving heavy and/or awkward objects more than 30 pounds with assistance. Usually in a comfortable indoor environment surrounded by moving machinery and/or loud equipment that may require shouting in order to be heard. There could be exposure to temperature extremes from freezers, ovens, and/or coolers. There may be occasional exposure to cleaning agents, sharp objects/industrial equipment necessary to perform job duties and functions.
