Senior Highway Engineer – GFT
Join us as a Senior Highway Engineer in our Eastern PA highway team. This hybrid position will be based out of Valley Forge Office (Audubon, PA), Philadelphia Office or Lehigh Valley Office (Fogelsville, PA).
What You Will Do Work on transformative projects that enhance transportation infrastructure and community connectivity.
Perform engineering design tasks for highway projects from preliminary to final design
Develop construction contract documents, such as specifications & cost estimates, and review construction documents
Establish working relationships and contact with client technical staff and project managers, especially in PennDOT, local governments, and private clients
Provide engineering design services for traditional design‑bid‑build projects and design‑build highway projects
Mentor and assist junior engineers in developing final design plans, including implementation of cross sections, traffic control, drainage, and signing & pavement markings
Collaborate with highway staff to develop projects including roadway, bridge, rail, transportation planning, traffic control, signing, pavement marking, hydraulic design, and preliminary design for environmental documents
Coordinate design activities and meetings between design staff, subcontractors, and client managers
Participate in project decisions regarding technical approaches, cost and scheduling performance
Complete tasks within schedule and budget as part of a project team within the highway disciplines
Responsibilities
Coordinate design activities and meetings between staff and other disciplines within GFT
Serve as a senior engineer and highway project/task engineer for highway projects
Maintain and improve current client relationships, as well as develop new clients
Manage scopes, schedules, and budgets for projects and daily operation of all aspects of project delivery
Act with professionalism, solid decision‑making, planning and organizational skills
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
Professional Engineering (PE) License registered in Pennsylvania or ability to obtain within 6 months
8‑12 years progressive engineering experience in highway design
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and/or Pennsylvania Turnpike projects
Familiarity with MicroStation and InRoads software
OpenRoads design software experience
Stormwater/NPDES permitting experience
Expertise with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Some experience managing project tasks
Team player, self‑starter, organized, committed to continuous improvement
Compensation Salary range: $115,000 – $145,000, based on experience and geographic location.
