Individual assists the Maintenance Manager with supervising the maintenance staff and assists with planning and the distribution of work in the department. This person ensures that the equipment is being maintained to keep Down Time to a minimum. This position entails a high degree of professionalism, independent judgment, and the overall ability to work well with others. The supervisor is responsible for implementing and ensuring that all procedures/policies are followed. The Supervisor must assist the department as a management team player to be a leader in efficiency, accountability standards, and continuous improvement concepts.
DUTIES
Actively supports the Maintenance staff. Looks for and makes recommendations for improvement. Participates in weekly coordination meetings to ensure that each week's scheduled activities have the right priority. Ensures that good housekeeping and safe work practices are followed. Must perform all job functions with honesty and professionalism. Must interact with coworkers fairly and with impartiality. Must read the production schedule to plan the staff work. Prioritize the work when required. Review daily production schedule to plan maintenance work. Prepare required paperwork or reports for major repairs. Recognizes good work performed by employees. Establish work schedules for maintenance personnel for the most efficient and economical methods in handling maintenance and repair requests. Ensure all equipment is operating in normal condition. Assign work orders to maintenance personnel. Enforce accuracy of maintenance work and confirm the completion of the work. Enforce company safety rules, procedures, and GMP guidelines. Make sure all preventative maintenance records and maintenance work are kept up in the MP2 system. Maintain a clean and orderly maintenance area and ensure sanitation rules are followed. Supervise and assist with special projects. Maintain knowledge related to maintenance matters. Ensure there is communication between shifts on any maintenance-related issues. Ensure the shift has coverage in regards to staff.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma, GED, or vocational training, and five (5) or more years of maintenance-related experience. A minimum of 3 years of maintenance supervisory experience. Knowledge of food processing/manufacturing machines and equipment. Experience in preventive maintenance programs both in installation and upkeep. PLC's, electrical/electronic skills, and overall maintenance troubleshooting ability. Strong manufacturing background with specific knowledge of Bakery operations. Strong electrical background. PLC background required. Able to read and understand schematics. Knowledge of operation, repair, and maintenance of plant equipment. Able to document personnel records. Able to follow project timelines. Strong background in Lock Out Tag Out process. Welding and/or fabricating background. Strong background in Preventive Maintenance. Ability to lead people. Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities. Strong communication skills, both written and oral. Team Player. Self-reliant and able to lead change.
