Job Title:
Senior Wire Harness Design Engineer
Location:
Southfield, MI
Duration:
9+ Months
Responsibilities
Create and maintain 3D CAD of harness designs and the relevant vehicle BOM in PLM.
Work with schematics and mechanical teams to develop harness routing for best cost, vehicle assembly and harness manufacturability
Prepare CAD and documentation for harness design releases
Thoroughly checking all requirements are met and ensuring consistency with schematics
Maintain component library (terminals, connectors, cables, wires, etc.)
Engage with suppliers to coordinate changes, create trial parts and incorporate DFM Feedback
Work with Quality Engineers on incoming quality checks and harness rework activities
Support escalated issues as needed and participate in triaging of issues with different teams and harness suppliers
Participate in the design of a world class engineering effort to bring electric vehicles to a new level of refinement
Create rework instructions as an intermediate action and provide a permanent resolution
Willing to travel 20%
Required Skills
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
5+ years of related experience
Expert knowledge in harness 3D design and vehicle harness development
Strong experience with 3DExperience Electrical workbench
Harness packaging experience and knowledge of manufacturing
Advantageous
Plastic, metal and rubber components design for wire harnesses
Ability to identify and communicate risks, mitigate and drive issues to closure
You deeply understand mechanical and electrical systems
Ability to build stuff with your hands
Harness Debugging Skills
