Mechanical Foreman

Candidates for the Mechanical Foreman position should have the skills and knowledge to perform the following:
Work Responsibilities
Planning, reading and preparation of daily work activities with the project superintendent.
Maintain oversight of all pipe laying operations and mechanical equipment installations.
Communicate effectively with onsite subcontractors and owner’s personnel.
Ensure the project runs smoothly throughout the work day; create an efficient working environment, keep production costs low, remain on schedule and help maintain employee morale.
Prepare and submit daily foreman reports to the overall project superintendent documenting work activities, work conditions, material and equipment needs and performance of subcontractors.
Safety
Maintain safe working conditions on the jobsite or sites.
Monitor, coach and correct employees to ensure compliance with federal & state safety mandates and the safety regulations established by State Utility Contractors, Inc safety program.
Verify workers are using provided safety gear and inspect the jobsite to identify and correct possible safety hazards.
Report any safety concerns to the project superintendent.
Experience and Requirements
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Industrial or Utility Water & Wastewater Facility construction. Power plant work and factory shut down work experience is acceptable.
Must be able to read blueprints and approved submittal documents; read and interpret process equipment installation manuals.
Must have led crews and supervised multi-crew teams.
Hands-on experience with equipment installations such as clarifiers, diffused aeration, submersible pumps, vertical turbine pumps, sluice & slide gates, UV disinfection, grit removal equipment, and chemical feed equipment.
Experience in welding steel boiler and heat exchanger piping, process air stainless steel piping, and bolting of flanged ductile iron piping is highly desirable.
Working Conditions
Mechanical foreman work on the job site outdoors and indoors in a variety of weather conditions including extreme heat, cold and precipitation.
Work may be labor-intensive, involving rigging, lifting and positioning of large pipe sections, large machinery, and equipment; manual cutting of pipe sections; tightening bolting systems and mechanical connections of various fittings and equipment.
Climbing in and out of excavations, trench shoring devices, process tankage, elevated platforms, etc., is a regular daily routine.
Education
A college degree is not required; however, a high school diploma is required and treatment plant construction experience is required.
On-the-job training will be available.
