Organizational Unit Overview
Facilities Services is a unit in Campus Operations Division, part of the broad Administration and Finance division that manages all aspects of facilities at East Carolina University. The university’s campus spans approximately 1,400 acres with more than 7 million square feet of facilities and physical assets exceeding $1.5 billion. Facilities Services has an annual budget of over $30 million and employs roughly 500 FTE, focusing on facilities maintenance and housekeeping services. Position Information

Staff – Technical/Trade Job Duties
This position is responsible for the maintenance and operation of the Main Campus HVAC building automation systems (BAS) and related controls. Tasks include installing, commissioning, calibrating, troubleshooting, and maintaining moderate‑complexity building systems such as air‑handling units, VAV and CAV systems, chillers, boilers, compressors, and energy recovery units. Responsibilities also include analyzing building‑level network controls, recommending system changes, performing preventive and corrective maintenance work orders, and providing technical support to HVAC staff and contractors. The role involves responding to emergencies on a rotating on‑call schedule and operating ECU vehicles. All work is conducted under general supervision of the Controls Supervisor and is essential for adverse weather response. Minimum Education/Experience
High school diploma or equivalency and two years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Requires certification(s). Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
Previous electronic controls experience Certification in HVAC, controls, electronics, or related field Proficient in Microsoft Office software Special Instructions To Applicant
