W3Global . We are now seeking a highly skilled and experienced
Preconstruction Manager
to lead our preconstruction efforts for complex site utilities. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in the successful planning, estimating, and strategic development of projects from estimating through successful award and seamless transition to the operations team. This role requires a deep understanding of wet utilities (water, sewer, storm drain), coupled with exceptional client engagement and project management skills. This role is 100% remote. Responsibilities
Estimate Development: Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for all phases of site utility projects, including material, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs. Scope Definition: Clearly define project scopes, identifying all required elements. Proposal & Bid Management: Lead the preparation and submission of comprehensive proposals and bids, ensuring all client requirements and deadlines are met. Value Engineering: Proactively identify and propose value engineering opportunities to optimize project costs, schedule, and constructability without compromising quality. Planning & Scheduling: Develop preliminary project schedules and timelines, considering logistical constraints, critical path activities, and resource availability. Client Engagement: Act as a primary point of contact for clients during the preconstruction phase, fostering strong relationships, understanding their needs, and providing expert advice. Subcontractor & Vendor Management: Solicit and evaluate bids from subcontractors and vendors, ensuring competitive pricing and alignment with project requirements. Market Analysis: Stay abreast of market trends, material costs, and labor rates to ensure competitive and accurate bidding. Transition to Operations: Facilitate a smooth handover of awarded projects to the project management and field operations teams, ensuring all relevant information, assumptions, and strategies are clearly communicated. Qualifications
Education: Bachelor 0's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field. Experience: Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in preconstruction, estimating, or project management within the heavy civil construction industry, with a strong focus on site utilities. Proven track record of successfully estimating and winning projects ranging from $1M to $50M. Technical Skills: Proficiency in estimating software (InEight/Hard Dollar preferred). Strong command of civil engineering principles, construction means and methods, and site utility installation (water, sewer, storm drain, dry utilities). Proficiency in project takeoff software (Autodesk preferred). Soft Skills: Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities; strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentation abilities; excellent negotiation and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment; strong organizational skills and attention to detail; demonstrated leadership capabilities and ability to mentor junior staff.
