Senior Grant Accountant - Hybrid in Baltimore, MD
About the Company and Senior Grant Accountant Opportunity:
CFS is partnering with a well known non profit organization to find a
Senior Grant Accountant
on a contract to hire basis
Schedule: M-F, 40 hours per week, 8am-5pm.
Hybrid work schedule;
in office Tuesday and Thursday, work from home MWF
Free parking provided to employees
Reports to the Assistant Controller
Pay: $40-43/hr
Anticipated start date: December 2025
Job Duties for the Senior Grant Accountant:
Complete all bank and balance sheet reconciliations for three entities
Record journal entries and reconcile accounts to meet monthly and annual closing deadlines
Reconciliations may include investments, accounts receivable, revenue recognition, right-of-use assets, intercompany balances, and other assigned accounts
Assist the Finance and Accounting team with reconciling net assets and preparing grant-related financial reports
Collaborate with the Assistant Controller to streamline AR, AP, and GL processes, aiming to enhance efficiency and reduce manual tasks
Contribute to the review of monthly and annual financial statements by analyzing variances and trends to ensure accurate reporting
Support the annual audit process by preparing audit schedules and responding to auditor requests
Review grant-related expenses at month-end and ensure accurate revenue recognition in accordance with GAAP and grant agreements
Provide backup support for accounts payable and cash receipts functions, particularly during month-end close, and assist with year-end 990 filings and 1099 reporting
Perform additional special projects as needed
Qualifications for the Senior Grant Accountant:
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related required
3+ years' general accounting experience required
Strong reconciliation and audit support experience required
Knowledge of grant accounting required; experience with private grant funding, reading grant agreements, and recording the grant per GAAP
Able to deliver great customer service from a finance perspective
Experience using Sage Intacct and/or Bill.com a plus but not required
Proficient Excel skills (lookups and pivot tables)
Non profit accounting experience required
Comfortable in a fast-paced, high volume, evolving environment
Willing to take on a variety of responsibilities, including cross-functional support
Must be able to pass a background check
