About the Role
We are seeking an experienced
Project Accountant
to join our growing construction team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in
construction accounting ,
AIA billing , and
project cost tracking
from initial setup through closeout.
This position requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate closely with project managers, estimators, and operations to ensure accurate financial reporting on active construction projects. Key Responsibilities
Manage
AIA billing
and related documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance with contract terms.
Prepare and review
Schedule of Values (SOV) , lien waivers, and change order billing.
Track
job costs, budgets, commitments, and subcontractor invoices
throughout each project lifecycle.
Reconcile project accounts monthly, including WIP, retention, and progress billings.
Partner with project managers to analyze cost-to-complete, forecast project cash flow, and monitor budget variances.
Maintain accurate records of
subcontractor compliance , insurance certificates, and vendor documentation.
Assist with
month-end close
related to project accounting, journal entries, and accruals.
Support internal and external audits by providing project-level financial reports and documentation.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
(or equivalent experience).
5+ years of accounting experience
in the
construction industry .
AIA billing experience required
- proficiency with G702/G703 forms and project billing schedules.
Strong understanding of
job cost accounting, WIP reporting, and project forecasting .
Experience with
construction accounting software
(such as Viewpoint, Sage 300, Foundation, or CMiC).
Advanced
Excel
skills; ability to analyze and present data clearly.
Excellent communication skills and ability to partner with field and office personnel.
