hands-on, detail-oriented accountant

to manage all aspects of financial operations and support strategic business decisions. Position Summary The Accountant will oversee daily accounting functions, ensure accurate cost tracking and reporting, and provide insights that support operational efficiency and profitability. This role combines

traditional accounting skills

with a

strong understanding of manufacturing cost structures —ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic, small-team environment. Key Responsibilities General Accounting & Financial Management Manage all day-to-day accounting activities, including A/P, A/R, payroll, journal entries, and reconciliations. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP. Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts. Coordinate and prepare year-end reports for tax filing and external accountants. Monthly Sales Tax reporting and filing. Cost Accounting & Inventory Control Develop and maintain accurate cost accounting systems for raw materials, WIP, and finished goods. Analyze production variances, material usage, and labor efficiency. Support pricing decisions with cost and margin analysis. Reconcile inventory accounts and oversee periodic physical counts. Budgeting & Forecasting Assist management in creating annual budgets and monthly forecasts. Monitor actual vs. budget performance; identify variances and recommend corrective actions. Support capital investment analysis and ROI calculations. Compliance & Controls Ensure adherence to accounting policies, internal controls, and local/state/federal regulations. Work with auditors and external consultants as needed. Maintain accurate records and support documentation for all financial transactions. Operational Support Collaborate with production and purchasing teams to optimize costs and inventory levels. Support implementation of ERP/accounting systems improvements. Provide financial insights to guide decision-making and business planning. Qualifications Required: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 3–7 years of progressive accounting experience (manufacturing or production environment strongly preferred). Solid understanding of cost accounting principles and inventory management. Proficiency with accounting software (D365, ERP systems). Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, cost models). Excellent attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving abilities. Preferred: CPA or CMA designation. Experience implementing or improving accounting/ERP systems. Familiarity with lean manufacturing or job costing methods. Personal Attributes Hands-on and self-motivated—comfortable working independently in a small team.
