Job Overview RWJ Barnabas Health is looking to add a qualified part-time, CT Technologist in Somerville, NJ. The CAT Scan Technologist will perform duties directly involved with a variety of CAT Scan procedures, prioritizing the patient and providing high‑quality service.
Qualifications
Experience: Three years of hospital experience as a staff technologist, with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Certifications and Licenses Required
State of New Jersey license and ARRT.
CT certification obtained within 12‑24 months of hire.
CPR certified or willing to obtain within six months of hire.
Scheduling Requirements
Day Shift, 16 hours/week.
Part‑time schedule.
Essential Functions
Position patient to obtain study as prescribed by standard operating procedures.
Able to position all anatomical parts as indicated by the standard operating procedures.
Perform the preparation in order to ensure the prompt commencement of the procedure.
Ensure all necessary equipment is at hand prior to starting the ordered examination.
Under the direction of a radiologist, instruct and administer cleansing preps and contrast agents.
Protect patients and other personnel by administering proper radiation protection techniques.
Protect the reproductive organs with appropriate apparel, if visualization of these areas is not required.
Transfer and properly position patients for examinations to obtain desired radiographic results according to physician specifications.
Assist physicians in performance of examinations.
As outlined in radiology policy and procedure and under the direction of the medical chairman the technologist will have proven competency in the administration of IV contrast media, including venipuncture.
Practice sterile techniques and prevent cross contamination. Secure and return supplies. Maintain room and room’s stock.
Responsible for necessary equipment maintenance recommendations and troubleshooting when indicated. Keep all necessary equipment maintenance logs pertaining to preventative maintenance of emergency service.
Make sure all necessary supplies are in room and restock room accordingly.
Responsible for patient scheduling and smooth flow of schedule and patient preparation including contrast administration.
Responsible for quality control of Cat Scan examinations.
Uses the Computer System According to Standard Operating Procedures
Able to enter studies in RIS and HIS, and track cases.
Able to split and fix studies in PACS as necessary.
Perform a variety of related clerical tasks as necessary.
Cooperate with all hospital personnel in a positive and professional manner, maintaining ethical relationships. Maintain a positive and loyal attitude toward employer.
Rotate shifts covering weekends and on‑call.
Attend in‑service training as required by the department.
Able to attend the majority of educational in‑services.
Explain procedures to the patient and answer any questions prior to the commencement of the procedures.
Complete all necessary paperwork/documentation prior to the submitting of the procedure for interpretation.
Assist in the instruction of student technologists.
Able to demonstrate technical art to the students.
Able to evaluate student performance and fill out observation forms.
