Summary:
This position is responsible for developing, implementing, supervising, and evaluating the educational program of the secondary schools and serves as an advisor to the assistant superintendent on administrative issues. This role is centered on driving equitable systems, professional growth, and continual improvement through the direct supervision and evaluation of Secondary Principals. The Director ensures alignment of curriculum and instruction with district goals and leverages data within Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and Multi‑Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) frameworks to promote deep student engagement and achievement.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities:
Provides general expertise and serves as a liaison between the secondary principals and the central office for secondary educational programs.
Oversees the systematic use of data within the cycles of Professional Learning Communities (PLCs); assists in the implementation of Multi‑Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) systems and the systematic use of data.
Guides the implementation of equitable systems and systematically applies an equity lens to all instructional and operational decisions across all levels of instruction.
Collaborates with the Director of Curriculum and Equity to:
Lead curricular and instructional initiatives at the secondary level (7‑12), researching, identifying, and recommending programs that promote student engagement and achievement;
Plan and direct the development and implementation of the district’s instructional program and standards‑based curriculum across all content areas in grades 7‑12;
Coordinate the program of ongoing evaluation of curriculum and instruction at the secondary level;
Assist in the organization and implementation of a professional development plan for staff in grades 7‑12.
Coordinates regularly with the Director of Elementary Education regarding instruction, testing, assessment, and school policies and procedures.
Reviews, researches, prepares, and disseminates information pertaining to educational trends in curriculum development, extended learning, and intervention programs.
Analyzes, reports, and interprets secondary student data to make data‑driven recommendations for instructional improvement and system adjustments, both in the short and long term.
Possesses deep knowledge and practice of using data in the cycles of Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and Multi‑Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) systems.
Supervises and evaluates all secondary principals, promoting their growth, leadership, and effectiveness.
Provides research‑based expertise and leadership to secondary principals in aligning staff curriculum with best instructional practices.
Supports secondary school administrators in addressing discipline issues and parental concerns related to the secondary program.
Facilitates and coordinates meetings with secondary principals on a regular basis to analyze data and facilitate collaborative conversations to determine strategies for improvement.
Coordinates the annual secondary staffing process to provide adequate staffing for secondary programs while remaining within district budget guidelines.
Coordinates the Course Advancement process in collaboration with the secondary principals and the curriculum department.
Visits secondary schools regularly to ensure effective communication, high visibility, support, and rapport with principals and school staff.
Provides timely and effective communication to appropriate district office/school personnel regarding incidents or situations that may impact the district.
Oversees the secondary athletics, extra duty contracts, the high school facility usage, and transfer of attendance for secondary students.
Assists in the recruitment, selection, and placement of certificated staff.
Collaborates with the North Montco Technical Career Center to provide quality technical programs to meet the district's secondary students.
Collaborates with the Director of Facilities and Operations on high school renovation projects, including coordinating schedules and ensuring that quality expectations are met within agreed‑upon timeframes. Performs various coordinating tasks associated with high school renovation, such as academic logistics and campus logistics, which include but are not limited to traffic and athletics.
Oversees outside entities’ requests to conduct research in the district, as well as the district’s research in evaluating educational programs, making evidence‑based and data‑based decisions.
Co‑facilitates the district student Wellness Committee with the Coordinator of School Nutrition Services.
Facilities the district K‑12 Supervision and Evaluation program for professional staff in compliance with district procedures and state regulations.
Serves as a liaison between the Superintendent and educational and community agencies.
Serves as one of the Title I Decision Makers.
Education And/or Certification Required:
Bachelor’s degree required.
Graduate of Master’s and/or Doctoral program with specialization in Educational Administration and Supervision.
PDE Principal Certificate and Superintendent’s Letter of Eligibility.
Experience Needed:
Minimum 5 years of successful secondary teaching experience.
Five (5) years of successful school‑based administration and management experience, with secondary principal experience.
Demonstrated successful experience in providing leadership in the planning, development, and implementation of the design and delivery of secondary services.
Knowledge Of:
Curriculum, instruction, assessment, and secondary programs.
PA Academic Standards and the District curriculum frameworks.
Current research and effective instructional practices, strategies, and programs.
