Overview
The County of Riverside’s Office of the County Counsel invites candidates to apply for Deputy County Counsel I/II/III to support the Child Welfare Division. Responsibilities
Daily court appearances and management of a large caseload. Case preparation, legal research, and writing of opinions and briefs. Handling writs, appeals, and trial and appellate advocacy. Advising clients on matters related to child welfare and dependency. Collaborating with two other Deputy County Counsels and team‑based support. Qualifications
Active membership in good standing with the California State Bar. Prior experience in child welfare or dependency, preferably in the public sector. Experience or background in social work, criminal law, probation, family law, civil litigation, trial work, or immigration law. Demonstrated teamwork, adaptability, and client focus. Advancement
Promotion to the Deputy County Counsel II, III, and IV levels occurs through a non‑competitive process based on demonstrated ability, satisfaction of the experience requirement, and an overall meets expectation rating on the annual performance evaluation. Compensation and Levels
Deputy County Counsel I: $43.27 – $55.10 hourly ($90,000 – $114,599 annually) Deputy County Counsel II: $51.47 – $66.80 hourly ($107,048 – $138,938 annually) Deputy County Counsel III: $65.87 – $86.34 hourly ($137,000 – $179,579 annually) All Levels Require
Valid California Driver's License. Active member in good standing with the California State Bar. Job Competencies
