What You'll Do The
Maintenance Buyer
is responsible for inventory control and managing/controlling the department's inventory and the purchasing workflow from requisition through receipt for all purchases.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement & Sourcing
Identify and purchase maintenance parts, tools, and supplies for production equipment and facility upkeep.
Source vendors and negotiate pricing, delivery terms, and warranties.
Maintain relationships with preferred suppliers and evaluate new vendors.
Inventory Management
Monitor stock levels of critical spare parts and reorder as needed.
Maintain accurate records of inventory using CMMS or ERP systems.
Implement inventory control strategies to reduce downtime and avoid overstocking.
Ensure all purchased items meet food safety and regulatory standards (e.g., FDA, USDA).
Maintain compliant documentation for audits, including purchase orders, invoices, and certifications.
Collaborate with QA and maintenance teams to ensure parts meet operational requirements.
Qualifications and Skills
High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred.
2+ years of experience in purchasing or inventory management, preferably in manufacturing.
Familiarity with food manufacturing equipment and sanitary design principles.
Proficiency in procurement software, CMMS, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong negotiation, communication, and organizational skills.
Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic components.
Experience with lean manufacturing or TPM practices.
Understanding of HACCP and GMP requirements.
Ability to read technical drawings and equipment manuals.
What's in it for You The pay range for this position is $31.00 - $37.00 per hour.
