Brunel is hiring a Cost Analyst to work with a major Oil and Gas company onsite in Houston, TX on a long term contract.
Position Overview
The Cost Analyst will support project cost control activities across multiple projects, working closely with Project Managers, Cost Specialists, and other stakeholders. This role will assist in budget setup, monitor project financial performance, validate expenditures, and ensure accurate cost reporting. The ideal candidate brings strong cost control experience within the oil & gas industry and proficiency in cost management systems and tools.
Key Responsibilities
Create and maintain project structures in SAP and EcoSys
Set up networks and activities to support requisition workflows
Work with Project Managers and Cost Specialists to establish and enter initial project budgets
Review and validate invoices and purchase orders for compliance with cost codes and budget allocations
Submit monthly accruals and assist with invoice discrepancy resolution
Manage commitments and facilitate asset registration
Support reporting requirements and cost performance tracking
Identify cost-saving opportunities and process efficiencies
Preferred Qualifications
5+ years of cost control or cost engineering experience, ideally in oil & gas
Strong understanding of cost management principles
Proficiency in SAP, EcoSys, Power BI, and advanced Excel
Experience supporting large capital projects or multiple small projects
Familiarity with EPC environments and major energy operators
Understanding of project processes and cross-functional workflows
Professional certifications such as AACE CCP or PMP preferred
Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage deadlines
