As Arden’s Senior Trust Tax Officer, you will be part of a team of professionals providing the highest level of service to our clients. Your role will be to work closely with outside tax preparers and the trust administrative team to ensure the efficient and timely tax filing of all fiduciary returns. Working collaboratively with the Chief Fiduciary Officer, Administration, Operations, and Compliance teams, you will serve as the primary subject matter specialist for fiduciary transfer tax and IRA issues.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Resolve issues and answer questions related to fiduciary and transfer tax filing requirements

Research tax issues, notices, and resolve problems with the IRS and other taxing authorities

Provide expertise to Trust Officers and Regional Trust Managers regarding fiduciary tax questions and issues

Work closely with the assigned Trust Officer on all IRA accounts to review initial account opening documentation, distributions, transfers, calculation of RMDs and required filings

Serve as primary liaison with outside tax preparers

Responsible for coordination of all fiduciary tax preparation including annual fiduciary returns, estimated tax payments and foundation quarterly calculations and payments

Review the tax setup of all new accounts and ensure proper coding. When appropriate, collaborate with Trust Officers to determine changes in account tax classification.

Provide NRA tax support internally and coordinate with outside tax preparers

Coordinate 1099 compilation

Exercise independent judgement and resolve issues to meet business objectives

Interpret policies, procedures, and compliance requirements

Identify and recommend opportunities for process improvement and risk control development

SKILLS

Understanding of fiduciary taxation and filing requirements

Technical knowledge of inherited IRAs

Knowledge of trust and estate planning with ability to interpret trust documents. Knowledge of charitable foundations is a plus

Estate, gift, and Generation-Skipping Transfer Tax (GSTT) knowledge

Understanding of the UPIA

Grasp of federal and state trust taxation issues

Proven risk management skills

Partnership and client servicing skills

Strong interpersonal and effective communication skills

Strong organizational skills and aptitude for detail

Teamwork and leadership orientation

Ability to easily adapt to fast paced work environment

Coordinate with multiple lines of business

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES None

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree: accounting or business degree preferred

Four or more years of fiduciary tax experience

Experience with AddVantage and OneSource a plus.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION

CPA or Enrolled Agent, JD, CFP, CTFA beneficial.
