Dewberry is seeking Construction Inspectors to monitor contractor work on highway, bridge and utility projects in northern Virginia. Inspectors ensure quality control and contract compliance for roadway, structure and bridge construction projects of moderate to considerable complexity. Responsibilities
Monitor operations to ensure contractor compliance with plans, contract terms and specifications. Coordinate and schedule construction inspection phases with contractors, DOT representatives and other agencies. Review and monitor contractor’s plan of operation including phasing and Maintenance of Traffic plans. Advise contractors of violations and recommend approval of corrective measures. Identify necessary changes to construction plans to meet field conditions. Make field measurements of pay items and conduct materials testing. Observe and monitor contractor’s construction equipment. Maintain and review comprehensive project records including daily diaries, materials notebooks, as‑built plans, pay quantity records, progress schedules, work orders and monthly estimates. Authorized to obtain all VDOT inspection and materials testing certifications (costs reimbursed). Required Skills & Experience
Minimum 3 years of experience. Civil construction inspection or related construction experience. Proficient in operating computer equipment, software programs and field inspection equipment. Ability to read and interpret roadway and bridge plans and contract specifications. Ability to drive assigned and/or personal vehicles within roadways and project sites to perform construction inspection activities. Equal Employment Opportunity Statement
