Boeing Defense Space and Security (BDS) Space Intelligence & Weapons Systems (SI&WS) has an exciting opportunity for an innovative, highly motivated, people focused, and growth motivated Mid‑Level or Senior Equipment and Tool Engineer (Level 3 or 4) to join our Experimental Systems Group (ESG) at Kennedy Space Center, FL.

ESG supports a variety of government customers spanning technology domains, and is a fast‑paced, responsive development environment delivering new capabilities to customers rapidly and affordably. The ESG portfolio consists of a range of platforms and technologies including the X‑37B, the world’s first fully autonomous reusable spaceplane, which recently landed from its seventh and most ambitious flight yet.

A successful candidate in this role will have passion, creativity, and an insatiable desire for process improvement and efficiency. They will also have a strong desire to be out in the factory, interacting with mechanics, and directly supporting the production system. In Production Engineering, working as a Tooling Engineer, we need highly responsible professionals committed to upholding the highest standards of safety, quality, and integrity.

Position Responsibilities

Conduct evaluation of project requirements, develop moderately complex equipment and tooling concepts, and design solutions for the Production System.

Develop, identify, and implement conceptual designs while supporting the program architecture for build.

Participate in design reviews and collect and document design requirements.

Participate in Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) to integrate technical solutions across multiple disciplines.

Compile and analyze technical data to determine the effects on product engineering design and estimates for equipment and tooling.

Ensure compliance with safety, producibility, maintainability, reliability, ergonomic factors and regulatory requirements.

Create specifications, purchase requests, and usage instructions for equipment and tooling.

Validate contractual performance milestones, maintain configuration control, conduct reviews, prepare plans for production readiness, preventative maintenance, and spares.

Conduct training for Production and Maintenance personnel.

Develop and implement moderately complex work‑arounds and maintain configuration of hardware, software and documentation.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills / Experience)

Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or non‑US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement.

3+ years of experience working in an engineering, manufacturing and/or production environment.

3+ years of experience with 3D modeling software.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills / Experience)

7 or more years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience with production systems such as Manufacturing Execution System (MES), Teamcenter Product Data Management (PDM), Unigraphics (UG/NX), and Visualization Mockup.

Ability to successfully work well and communicate with others in a cross‑functional team.

Experience as a product review engineer (MRB).

Experience with low‑rate manufacturing process automation.

Additional Information

Position is 100% onsite at Kennedy Space Center, FL.

Relocation will be offered based on candidate eligibility.

Shift: 1st shift.

Security clearance: active U.S. Top Secret required.

U.S. Person required for export control compliance.
