Key Areas of Responsibility
Manage the Network LAN/WAN engineering/operations team.
Provide clear, specific goals to the team and communicate performance feedback regularly.
Provide technical guidance and oversight.
Champion Network growth and stability strategies.
Manage team response to Network operations escalation events and incidents.
Manage Network projects/initiatives in support of business requirements.
Manage team’s capital and expense budgets.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Ensure enterprise Networks meet reliability, availability and capacity requirements.
Provide Network operations leadership/troubleshooting guidance.
Oversee the design and deployment of Network solutions to support business requirements.
Perform project management duties as required.
Interface and coordinate with third‑party vendors that provide Network services and infrastructure.
Ensure Network devices are at appropriate software levels and meet enterprise security requirements.
Ensure accurate network diagrams and documentation are maintained.
Perform project and non‑project related tasks and activities to support department goals and objectives.
Maintain a high level of expertise in current and emerging technologies.
Propose Network enhancements that improve efficiency/reliability and reduce cost.
Facilitate and encourage continuous education efforts for your team.
Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Information Systems, or equivalent work experience.
5+ years’ experience managing a large, distributed enterprise network.
Experience working in high square footage, high user‑count environments.
Experience with industry‑standard routing and switching protocols including BGP, OSPF and/or EIGRP, HSRP, IPsec/GRE, LACP/VPC, Spanning Tree, etc.
Experience with Cisco routers and switches (IOS, IOS‑XE, IOS‑XR and NX‑OS desirable).
Experience with F5 load‑balancing systems (LTM and APM desirable).
Experience with multi‑site Riverbed Steelhead WAN Optimization environments desirable.
Experience negotiating and managing vendor agreements; large vendor experience preferred.
Experience developing network management and monitoring tools.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to present complex technical information in a clear, concise manner to executive management.
Strong critical thinking and problem‑solving skills.
Ability to drive continuous improvement processes.
Independent and proactive management style.
Ability to work on many concurrent priorities.
Action orientation and ability to manage and meet aggressive timelines and deadlines.
Strong track record of delivering initiatives on time and on budget.
Current network and/or security certifications desirable.
Familiarity with ITIL and IT service management concepts; ServiceNow experience preferred.
Demonstrated track record of improving stability and reducing costs.
Experience creating, maintaining and optimizing Standard Operating Procedures.
