Field Engineer

Design, configure, and program Niagara-based Building Automation Systems (BAS) using Tridium Workbench, including creating station databases, graphics, and control logic per project specifications and sequences of operation. Integrate and commission Niagara Framework controllers (Distech, Trane, Honeywell, or equivalent) with third-party systems using BACnet, Modbus, and LonWorks protocols. Perform full point-to-point checkout, system startup, and functional testing of Tridium/Niagara systems to verify proper operation of HVAC and auxiliary systems. Troubleshoot and resolve Niagara station communication, controller logic, and network configuration issues during static and dynamic commissioning phases. Provide on-site technical support to installation teams, subcontractors, and other trades to ensure successful integration and operation of BAS systems. Develop, maintain, and back up Niagara databases, graphics, and user interfaces, ensuring systems are documented, archived, and aligned with client standards. Support customers and field teams with system diagnostics, tuning, and performance optimization to enhance occupant comfort and energy efficiency. Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and service teams to support accurate design reviews, submittal preparation, estimates, and commissioning documentation. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members on Tridium/Niagara best practices, networking, and system architecture. Deliver owner training and ongoing system support to ensure long-term reliability and compliance with building codes and energy standards. Skills & Qualifications
Required: Strong hands-on experience with Tridium Niagara Framework (Niagara 4 preferred), including programming, integration, graphics, and troubleshooting. Experience with Niagara Workbench, EC-Net 4, or similar Niagara-based tools. Familiarity with Distech, Trane, or Honeywell Niagara controllers and field devices. Knowledge of HVAC systems, DDC control theory, and sequences of operation. Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, and control schematics. Strong understanding of BACnet/IP, BACnet MSTP, and Modbus TCP/RTU communication protocols. Working knowledge of Windows OS, networking (IP addressing, switches, routers), and MS Office Suite. Knowledge of California Title 24, ASHRAE Guideline 36, and relevant building codes. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and clearly document technical details. Ability to lift 50 lbs., work on construction sites, and climb ladders or stairs as needed. Physical Demands
