Position Summary The Division of Pediatric Ophthalmology is a busy clinical practice that provides comprehensive pediatric eye care outside the Chicago area and treatment of adult strabismus patients. The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria (UICOMP) seeks an Assistant/Associate Professor of Clinical Pediatrics in Pediatric Ophthalmology. The candidate must hold an MD/DO degree, be BC/BE in Ophthalmology, and have completed an AAPOS‑approved fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology. Eligibility for an Illinois physician license is required. This faculty role involves direct patient care, teaching medical students and residents, and research and scholarly activities.
Duties & Responsibilities
Provide pediatric ophthalmology patient care in a clinical setting.
Provide patient care to adult patients with strabismus.
Provide inpatient care to pediatric patients in the Children’s Hospital of Illinois.
Screen and treat premature neonatal patients for Retinopathy of Prematurity.
Participate in teaching medical students, residents, and other health professionals.
Perform other duties of a university faculty member including committee assignments, curriculum development, student counseling, and administration.
Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
MD/DO degree
Eligibility for licensure in Illinois
BC/BE in Ophthalmology
3 years of ophthalmology residency and 1 year of AAPOS‑approved pediatric ophthalmology fellowship
