Job Title:
Insurance Defense Litigation Attorney (Remote – California)
Overview A group of well-established California-based law firms is seeking experienced litigators to join their insurance defense teams. These positions offer full remote flexibility anywhere within California. Candidates may have expertise in one or more of the following areas: Insurance Defense, General Liability Defense, or Workers’ Compensation Defense. Prior experience in these practice areas is highly valued.
Key Responsibilities
Manage a caseload of insurance defense matters from inception through resolution.
Conduct depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and trials as required.
Draft pleadings, discovery requests, motions, and settlement evaluations.
Collaborate with clients, insurance carriers, and internal teams to develop strategic case plans.
Maintain billing targets in line with firm expectations.
Practice Area Focus & Required Skills Insurance Defense
Strong understanding of carrier-side litigation protocols.
Experience defending claims involving property damage, auto liability, or subrogation.
Ability to assess coverage issues and draft reservation of rights letters.
General Liability Defense
Proven experience handling premises liability, personal injury, and tort claims.
Skilled in deposition strategy, expert retention, and trial preparation.
Familiarity with California Civil Procedure and courtroom advocacy.
Experience representing employers and carriers before the WCAB.
Knowledge of California workers’ compensation statutes, liens, and IMR processes.
Ability to negotiate settlements and appear at hearings remotely.
Qualifications
JD from an accredited law school; active California Bar membership required.
Minimum of 4 years litigation experience in one or more of the listed practice areas.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Self-directed, organized, and comfortable working independently in a remote setting.
Compensation Competitive base salary commensurate with experience and practice area expertise. Firms will consider higher compensation for candidates with exceptional experience in relevant practice areas. Salary ranges vary depending on firm size, client base, and practice focus.
