Vice President, Retail & D2C BSSN SPORTS invites qualified leaders to join our team as the Vice President of Retail & Direct‑to‑Consumer (D2C) operations.

Impact In this role you will lead Retail & D2C operations across the full Suite: event‑based retail, B2B2C & B2C ecommerce and external partner events. You will report to the Head of Retail/D2C & CMO, sit on the Varsity Brands Leadership Council, and drive growth and customer experience across all channels.

Responsibilities

Owned & Operated Event‑Based Retail:

Direct the in‑house retail distribution team at our national and regional camps and competitions, overseeing product creation, sourcing, inventory, pricing, warehouse distribution, on‑site operations, staffing, CX, marketing support and program management.

B2B2C & B2C Ecommerce:

Expand ecommerce by leveraging the Varsity ecosystem to sell core and new products. Create an omnichannel strategy that drives sales before, during and after events, and aligns with B2B2C team sales.

External Partner Event‑Based Retail:

Manage relationships with current and future third‑party partners, ensuring joint success and growth. Assess which events should be owned versus outsourced and collaborate with Corporate Partnerships.

Oversee product strategy across cheer, dance, band and emerging categories, including merchandising, pricing and promotion for both event and ecommerce channels.

Key Areas of Expertise

Product sourcing (design, buy, sample, procurement, pricing)

Event‑based retail growth (same‑store sales, per‑capita sales, CX, loyalty)

Ecommerce strategy (UI/UX, product selection, consumer experience)

Omnichannel integration across events, camps, competitions and ecommerce

Executive partnership – influence across CMO, CTO and other senior leaders to champion retail & D2C initiatives

Qualifications

15+ years of retail & ecommerce experience, including store operations, merchandising, event retail and D2C.

Proven ecommerce management – expertise in Shopify, CommerceTools or similar, UI/UX, marketing, advertising, and sales.

Strong data‑driven decisions, KPIs, and retail/D2C metrics.

Experience with retail inventory systems and ecommerce tools.

Exceptional interpersonal and collaboration skills – build relationships across all levels.

Curiosity, humility and a bias for action.

Background in live events, sports, media or entertainment is a plus.

No prior experience in cheer, dance or performing arts required.

Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred.

Physical Requirements Professional office environment. Mostly sedentary with occasional standing and lifting up to 30 lbs; during events must stand and walk >5 hours.
