Overview Position: Associate Dean of Foundational Learning. Division: Teaching and Learning Office. Full Time, 37.5 hrs, M-F, Grade 20, Salary 125k.

Responsibilities

Lead the division in developing and evaluating long‑term goals and objectives aligned with HCC's mission.

Manage student academic complaints, code of conduct violations, and placement issues.

Establish and maintain divisional processes, procedures, and standards.

Coordinate internal and external grant proposals and administration.

Maintain and develop partnerships with other divisions, community, and peer institutions.

Support accreditation and assessment activities for the division’s courses and programs.

Facilitate faculty professional development activities in collaboration with the Faculty Development and Learning Innovation Division.

Support hiring, onboarding, and performance evaluations of new full‑time faculty and staff.

Communicate division policies, promote professionalism, and uphold equitable job expectations.

Assign faculty to course schedules in accordance with division needs and college policies.

Supervise staff as appropriate and support campus‑wide student recruitment and success efforts.

Plan and use designated academic physical spaces and technology to support student success.

Coordinate assessment and data collection across all departments with institutional staff.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Master’s degree required; Ph.D. preferred.

Minimum 3 years of management experience leading division faculty.

5+ years of college teaching or community college experience preferred.

Knowledge of diversity, equity, and inclusion best practices.

Excellent strategic planning, goal setting, and leadership skills.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work cooperatively with a diverse range of students, faculty, and administrators.

Proven conflict mediation and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Working knowledge of technology and data analysis for higher education.

Knowledge of curriculum and instructional planning, development, and assessment.

Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and discretion in communication.

Preferred Qualifications

Doctorate in Accounting, Economics, or Mathematics.

Experience with course schedule building and enrollment tracking.

Previous supervisory and curriculum development experience.

Budget management experience.

Experience implementing strategic goals and initiatives.

Physical Demands High volume, deadline‑driven work with considerable multitasking. Flexibility in scheduling required, including overtime and outside normal daytime hours when necessary.
