As part of the M&S Dealer Platforms team, the Software Platform Engineer Manager is expected to lead software craftsmanship for multiple product teams related to the M&S Dealer Platform product journeys and apply platform engineering principles to significantly enhance Ford’s current dealer capabilities, ensuring that application platforms can grow while meeting increasing demands.

Responsibilities

Lead a portfolio of diverse technology projects and a team of developers with deep experience in distributed microservices and full-stack systems to create solutions that help meet regulatory needs for the company

Establish a platform improvement roadmap that describes key areas of priorities based on the assessments of current capabilities.

Identify critical dependencies and recommend related enterprise foundational technology capabilities and improvements to senior IT and business partner management, focusing on software engineering/programming/solution designs.

Share your passion for staying on top of tech trends, experimenting with and learning new technologies, participating in internal & external technology communities, mentoring other members of the engineering community, and, from time to time, being asked to code or evaluate code

Utilize Microservices, Cloud-Native, Event-driven architectures, and languages like React, Java, HTML/CSS, TypeScript, SQL, Python, Open Source RDBMS and NoSQL databases, Public Cloud (Google Cloud), and Serverless, Kubernetes

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field

8+ overall years of experience building and maintaining complex enterprise web applications in microservice product architecture

At least 5+ years of experience in leading software engineering delivery

At least 3+ years’ experience with cloud computing (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)

At least 3+ years of people management and agile delivery experience

Possess in-depth expertise in core technologies, including Java, Spring, Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, messaging frameworks, container-based development (Docker), Elasticsearch, relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred), NoSQL solutions (Azure Cosmos DB or Cassandra), and event-driven architecture solutions like Kafka.

Experience in successfully migrating legacy applications to modern cloud-based architectures utilizing Google Cloud Platform (GCP) cloud technologies.

Knowledge of Continuous Delivery process and tools, testing frameworks, and practices (preferably GitHub, Ready API, Terraform, Tekton, etc.).

Understand the testing pyramid, develop a suite of unit tests and API tests, and adopt a "test-as-you-code" strategy.

Other Details This position is a range of salary grades LL6.

This position is hybrid. Candidates who are in commuting distance to a Ford hub location may be required to be onsite four or more days per week.
