The candidate will have responsibility for design and/or integration of aircraft mechanical systems, including development of mechanical architecture and source selection of components for an aircraft platform.
Responsibilities and Duties
Design and develop mechanical systems architecture (e.g., utility mechanisms, flight control systems, up‑lock and down‑lock systems, gear drive systems).
Specify and select aircraft mechanical systems components (e.g., electromechanical and/or hydraulic rotary/linear drive actuators, geared rotary actuators, door drive systems).
Qualify and certify mechanical systems components.
Provide support to laboratory testing and verification activities.
Coordinate integration activities with stakeholders (Structural/Subsystem Design/Analysis Teams, Supplier Management Teams, Software Teams, Vehicle Management Systems Teams).
Attend internal program, customer and/or supplier technical exchange meetings and formal program milestone reviews to provide and/or obtain progress status updates.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and eight years of engineering experience, OR Master’s Degree in STEM and six years of engineering experience, OR PhD and four years of engineering experience.
Prior experience or familiarity with 3D Computer Aided Design (CAD) software applications.
Capacity to obtain and maintain a final adjudicated government Secret clearance and any program access required within a reasonable period of time.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related discipline.
Experience with the specification, selection and qualification of aircraft actuation hardware (electrically and hydraulically powered).
Aircraft mechanical systems design experience, including kinematic design/analysis and/or control systems logic.
Familiarity with development of aircraft door/canopy actuation and locking mechanisms.
Experience with NX CAD and Teamcenter PDM/PLM or equivalent engineering tools.
Experience with Matlab/Simulink.
Experience using MSC ADAMS and/or NX Motion Simulation.
Familiarity with industry-standard software applications such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, etc.
Task leadership and mentorship experience.
Experience coordinating with multiple Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) within a dynamic program environment.
Experience with suppliers and supplier coordination/management.
Salary & Benefits Primary Level Salary Range: $118,600.00 – $178,000.00. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and discretionary bonuses in addition to base pay. The company provides a variety of benefits, including health insurance, life and disability insurance, savings plans, company‑paid holidays and paid time off for vacation and personal business.
