Senior Supplier Development Engineer
Location: San Francisco, CA (hybrid; in‑office 2‑3 days per week)

What you will do
Define best‑in‑class processes to meet all Oura design and operational requirements
Partner with Quality Engineers, Material Engineers, and Product Designers to optimize product design and manufacturing processes for cost, cosmetics, and reliability
Identify, research, develop, and qualify equipment manufacturers and suppliers in support of Oura’s hardware development goals
Use data to drive process decisions and influence product and industrial design, including part tolerances and specifications
Drive suppliers globally to establish and optimize manufacturing processes for Oura’s mechanical components, ensuring best‑in‑class quality and resolving production issues
Develop and document processes, parameters, consumables and secondary operation requirements to meet defined specifications
Work with Sourcing Managers to define and establish supply chain requirements utilizing selected equipment and manufacturing partners
Provide leadership and support at manufacturing sites during development and production ramp‑up
Work with engineering and other cross‑functional teams to drive issues to resolution
Requirements
5+ years of direct experience as a Supplier Development Engineer, Supply Base Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, Manufacturing Design Engineer, Supplier Industrialization Engineer, or equivalent role in a mechanical manufacturing environment
Experience working with global suppliers to establish & qualify manufacturing processes from NPI to mass production
Experience conducting Design For Manufacturing (DFM) reviews and identifying potential risks and challenges before build start
Ability to analyze failure modes and identify process or design root causes
Experience applying quality controls, qualifying manufacturing lines, conducting dimensional capability analysis, and establishing cosmetic specifications in collaboration with quality engineering
Ability to apply a design of experiments (DOE) approach to drive and validate corrective actions
Knowledge of advanced manufacturing, fixture design and fabrication, and qualification procedures
Excellent critical thinking and problem‑solving skills
Effective communication of challenges to leadership and cross‑functional partners
Ability to travel internationally, up to 25% of the time
Positive attitude with a willingness to learn & challenge the status quo
Experience with highly cosmetic parts or health wearable devices is a plus

Pay and Location Oura’s market‑based pay may vary. For U.S. locations, region 1 salary range is $162,000 – $203,000. Specific compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
