Communications Specialist – NYISO
NYISO’s External Communications team invites applications for a full‑time Communications Specialist. The role partners with the Senior Communications Writer and subject‑matter experts to publish and promote industry‑leading content that educates stakeholders on the evolving electric grid, planning reports, operational activities, and wholesale electric markets. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Research, write, and produce content in collaboration with subject‑matter experts. Publish and promote social media content that drives engagement and education across key audiences, including policymakers, elected officials, and third parties. Monitor and analyze social media performance, including reach, engagement rates, and additional actions. Stay abreast of organizational projects and developments and work closely with External Affairs to identify issues affecting New York’s grid. Attend stakeholder committee meetings as needed for additional research. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field such as English, Communications, or Journalism. Minimum five years of successful writing and social media experience, preferably within the energy industry. Familiarity with paid media strategies and digital media platforms. Additional Requirements
Strong analytical capabilities and knowledge of the energy industry. Superior verbal and written communication skills, including writing, editing, and project management. Proven track record of editing, writing, proofreading, and storytelling expertise. Knowledge of communications disciplines such as social media management, editorial strategy, crisis communications, and media relations. Physical Demands
The employee must frequently stand, walk, sit, use hands to perform routine office tasks, and occasionally lift up to 15 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made. Work Environment
The workplace includes moderate noise levels, routine interaction with staff and public, travel for meetings and training, and occasional work on nights, weekends, or holidays. Remote work is permitted for some days, but onsite presence at Rensselaer, NY is required for the majority of the workweek. Compensation
