Quality Inspector – Mechanical – Level 2
Location: Stuart, FL. Pay: $25.00/hr – $29.00/hr (full-time, 6‑month to 1‑year contract). The role supports the 1st shift in a full‑time capacity.
We are hiring a Quality Mechanical Inspector to perform visual, physical, and dimensional inspections of parts, assemblies, and materials in-process, final, and first‑article stages, ensuring conformance to specifications and drawings. The position requires use of precision tools (micrometers, dial indicators, calipers, etc.), performing 5S activities, and assisting with customer requests.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct visual, physical, and dimensional inspections of parts, assemblies, and materials at various stages (in-process, final, and first article) to ensure conformance to specifications and drawings.
Use precision inspection tools, including micrometers, dial indicators, calipers, huck and height gauges, and feeler gauges.
Demonstrate strong visual acuity with the ability to detect defects in complex products and assess workmanship quality per customer specifications.
Classify defect types and verify rework completed during inspection.
Verify documentation packages meet industry and commodity‑specific standards.
Ensure proper protection and preservation of inspected products prior to further processing or shipment.
Perform 5S activities.
Assist with customer requests.
Required Qualifications
2+ years of hands‑on experience with precision mechanical parts inspection.
Strong ability to read and interpret manufacturing drawings and industry/commodity standards.
Proficient in GD&T and validating dimensions (tolerances ≥ .001).
Experience with certificates of conformance and inspection documentation.
Ability to adapt to new technology and software.
Weekends required (every other week).
Excellent visual acuity to detect defects in complex products.
Willingness to undergo a background check.
ITAR compliance.
Proficient reading, writing, and verbal communication in English.
Preferred Qualifications
Associate degree or higher in a related field, or equivalent experience.
Certification in inspection techniques or GD&T is a plus.
Benefits Mileage reimbursement at the U.S. government rate ($0.70 per mile, up to 100 miles).
