Job Summary Assistant Project Manager, Construction (Mechanical). Columbus, Ohio 43137. Reports to Project Manager. Full‑time / exempt. 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., Monday – Friday.

Responsibilities

Support Project Manager in driving project flow effectively from inception to completion.

Assist with project document control, including insurance, bonding, permits, submittals, RFI’s, change orders, and correspondence.

Verify correct drawings are distributed to field.

Assist with schedule of values, billing format, and project schedule integration.

Request PO’s for major equipment and subs, anticipating delivery dates.

Facilitate material takeoffs by trade supervisor.

Attend all necessary meetings with internal and external entities to review scheduling, delivery, job progress, manpower, and solutions to setbacks.

Support project accounting and/or project management in monthly billings, collections, and follow‑up on outstanding balances.

Collaborate with supervisor regarding project safety, toolbox talks, and weekly walk‑throughs.

Gather information for changes in scope and work with the team, estimating, and downstream clients for pricing; ensure no work starts prior to approval.

Assist field personnel in closeout of project and obtain as‑built drawings.

Escalate critical and/or sensitive issues to the Project Manager with recommendation for resolution.

Comply with all company operating policies, procedures, and safety programs.

Preferred Education and Experience

Minimum 3–5 years related experience in the construction industry.

Bachelor’s degree in construction management, mechanical engineering, or a similar area of study.

High school diploma or GED.

Knowledge of construction industry documentation and federal, state, and city regulations.

Computer Skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).

Familiarity with AutoCAD and other mechanical or construction programs.

Experience with project management/document control software.

Knowledge of construction/financial software packages.

Physical Demands Regularly required to sit, see, talk, hear, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects; walk, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Requires close, distance, peripheral, and depth vision. Requires regular commute to field locations.
