Position Summary
The OSP (Outside Plant) Lineman is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of aerial and underground fiber optic and copper cable systems. This role involves working at heights, handling delicate fiber cables, and ensuring network reliability through precise installation and testing. Key Responsibilities
Install and secure new fiber optic cables on poles, ensuring proper tension and support. Inspect for wear and tear, re‑tension cables, and repair damaged lines to prevent service interruptions. Join new cable sections and connect lines to service points using specialized tools and techniques. Perform signal integrity tests, pinpoint issues, and verify compliance with industry standards. Adhere to strict safety protocols, OSHA guidelines, and company policies at all times. Operate bucket trucks, diggers, and other heavy equipment safely and efficiently. Read and interpret construction prints, maps, and work orders accurately. Respond to outages and emergency repairs as needed. Required Skills & Qualifications
Technical Knowledge: Understanding of fiber optic cables, splicing, and testing equipment. Physical Fitness: Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physically demanding tasks outdoors in various weather conditions. Comfort with Heights: Experience working safely from aerial lifts and/or bucket trucks. Attention to Detail: Essential for handling delicate fiber cables and performing precise work. Collaboration: Ability to work as part of a crew under the supervision of a lead or senior technician. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; CDL preferred. Familiarity with OSP construction standards and NESC guidelines. Preferred Skills
Experience with OTDR and other fiber testing equipment. Knowledge of aerial and underground telecom construction practices. Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities. Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions. Ability to climb poles and work at heights using proper safety gear. Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Roseville, CA. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $40.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
