We are seeking a dedicated and organized Dispatcher to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for coordinating and dispatching drivers, monitoring driver hours, addressing mechanical issues, and ensuring that all logistical operations run smoothly. The Dispatcher will play a key role in maintaining clear communication with drivers, ensuring compliance with DOT and FMCSA regulations, and keeping up-to-date with any operational changes. This role will be part-time Monday‑Friday 4 am to 8 am. After training, this will be a remote/hybrid position—primarily remote with the need to come into the office for meetings, scheduled trainings, or as needed by management.
Key Responsibilities
Dispatch Drivers: Coordinate and dispatch drivers efficiently for daily operations, ensuring timely pick‑ups, deliveries, and route optimization.
Compliance Oversight: Regularly track driver hours and ensure compliance with DOT and FMCSA regulations, monitoring any potential violations or over‑hours using programs like Motive. Ensure drivers adhere to all transportation regulations and safety standards set by DOT, FMCSA, and the company.
Mechanical Issues Management: Address and troubleshoot mechanical issues reported by drivers using the Motive system and work closely with maintenance teams to resolve any issues promptly.
Load Checks: Verify loads via the NewBos system, ensuring that the correct materials, equipment, or goods are being transported to their designated destinations. Auditing loads at the end of the day to confirm which loads have been completed and which need to be rescheduled to another day.
Driver Communication: Answer incoming calls from drivers and provide guidance regarding routes, schedules, or any other necessary information. Communicate any changes in schedules or route adjustments to drivers as needed.
Update Drivers: Proactively call drivers with real‑time updates or changes in routes, deliveries, or other essential information to ensure operations stay on track.
Collaborative Teamwork: Work closely with other dispatchers, drivers, and internal teams to ensure seamless operations. Foster a cooperative work environment to address issues and find solutions quickly.
Stay Current on Changes: Maintain an up‑to‑date understanding of schedules, routes, or policy changes and relay this information to drivers, management, and team members.
