Position Details
Department: North Tower Imaging
Schedule: PRN

Location: Birmingham, AL
What You Will Do
Operate equipment and perform various mammography related procedures. Prepare and position patients and select anatomic and technical parameters accurately.
Explain procedures and educate patients about the role of regular mammography in preventive breast health.
Develop and evaluate the film for technical quality such as density contrast, definition, and distortion.
Follow radiation safety procedures and guidelines.
Ensure prompt submission of high‑quality images and documents sent to PACS (image quality, correct lead markers and patient data/history).
Ensure equipment is properly functioning. Report potential problems or equipment malfunction to appropriate personnel.
Assist in maintaining a clean and orderly department, including procedure rooms, storage areas, dressing rooms, film storage area, and any other areas within the department.
May perform bone density scans using DEXA equipment, if applicable.
What You Will Need
BLS Provider obtained within 1 month of hire (American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted).
Bone Density Certification may be required within 6 months of hire (if applicable).
One or more of the following credentials required:
Cardiographic Technician credentialed from CCI before hire.
Medical Sonographer credentialed from ARDMS before hire.
Radiologic Technologist specializing in Radiography credentialed from ARRT before hire.
Education
Graduate of an accredited educational program in Radiologic Technology required.
Additional Preferences
PRN mammography position in the North Tower Imaging department. Qualified staff will perform screening and diagnostic mammography.
Daytime hours vary from 7:00‑3:30 to 8:00‑4:30. No weekends, no holidays.
