Description: The Associate Dean and Director of the Dance Division works collaboratively with the Dean and Director and Administrative Director of Dance to create and maintain a healthy and effective learning environment and curriculum for the Division’s students. This role supports the development of an engaging curriculum and provides mentorship to students, aligned with the School’s mission and core values, as they prepare for their professional careers. The Associate Dean and Director serves as a facilitator among students, faculty, and administration to promote a positive and stimulating culture across the Division. The salary range for this role is $130,000-$140,000 annually.

Role Responsibilities: Facilitates communication with students and faculty

Holds open office hours to address immediate and long range concerns Serves as liaison between students/faculty, Dean and Director, and administration Serves as a Faculty Advisor for one class of Dance Division Students Writes letters in support of dancer applications and supports professional opportunities and connections as needed

Co-manages the Professional Exchange “PX” program for 4 th year dance students with the Dean and Director, including regular check-ins with those students and oversight on the successful completion of the program Manages the collection of course syllabi from Dance Division Faculty and communication of Dance Division policies to faculty. Alongside the Dean and Director, teaches the Senior Seminar course Teaches Dance Division classes as assigned by Dean and Director Supports and contributes to the administrative success of the Division, in partnership with the Administrative Director, Dean and Director, and Dance Division Staff Works in collaboration with Dean and Director and Administrative Director to support performance and curricular planning Works in collaboration with the Dean and Director and Administrative Director to implement policies consistent with the goals of the Dance Division Serves as administrative liaison for supporting students with injuries and wellness opportunities, including regular communication with our Health and Wellness Faculty, Health Services Office, and Office of Academic Support and Disability Services. Responsible for investigating additional opportunities for the improvement of student well-being, including supplemental physical training alongside our Health and Wellness Faculty member Participates in the running of faculty and student representative meetings Attends institutional meetings with or in the absence of the Dean and Director Attends rehearsals in support of or in the absence of the Dean and Director, inclusive of evening and weekend rehearsals in the theater Attends and participates in all auditions for admissions into the Dance Division and review of Summer Dance audition materials. Participates in the Summer Dance Intensive and Juilliard Dance Experience Days Professional Experience in Dance as a choreographer, dancer, or teacher Ability to work in collaboration with a team Experience working with pre-professional or professional dancers in a leadership capacity Experience teaching or choreographing pre-professional or professional dancers Ability to work evenings and weekends, as scheduled Preferred Background: Experience in an academic environment, ideally in a conservatory setting Administrative Experience in an office setting *Submission of a cover letter is a requirement of all applicants.
