Hours
Eight-hour shift working Monday-Friday, with rotating weekends and holidays. Start time between 11:00am and 12:00pm.
Ten-hour shift working Tuesday-Friday, with rotating weekends and holidays. Start time between 9:00am and 12:00pm.
Summary
The Senior/Lead Medical Technologist (Medical Laboratory Scientist) provides technical direction and oversight in the Microbiology Laboratory. The individual will demonstrate advanced level competencies in producing accurate laboratory test results, serve as a resource to staff, gather data for quality improvement purposes, assess testing personnel competency levels, assist with new test development and validation studies, and serve as a preceptor in teaching multiple types of learners and training of new employees. The individual will provide leadership in the laboratory during mid to late day activities.
Responsibilities
Processing and testing specimens using manual techniques, total laboratory automation, mass spectrometry, and molecular methods.
Perform specimen processing and setup tasks, Gram stains, rapid antigen testing, plate reading of cultures, susceptibility testing, and organism identification.
Work in Central Processing, Bacteriology, and Special Microbiology sections (Mycobacteriology, Mycology, Parasitology, Send Outs).
Education Requirements
Bachelor's of Science degree.
Licensure/Certification Requirements
MLS/MT (ASCP), MT (NCA), or MT (AMT) certification.
Professional Experience Requirements
Two years of experience at the medical laboratory technologist, medical laboratory technician, cytotechnologist, or histotechnologist level.
